Animals in Your Life

If Paleo is to mean more than the latest fad diet or weight loss scheme, then it needs to go beyond diet. The whole topic of ancestral health; fitness and well being needs to be addressed holistically - now there's a buzzword for you.

Miss B inspects the merchandise.
Health is more than hitting the gym or eating yourself skinny. Psychological well being, getting enough sleep, taking time to meditate or do yoga, and engaging in practices that make you and your family happier are as much a part of fitness as bicep curls and protein shakes.

One great thing you can do is to foster or adopt an animal in need. Pictured here is one of our three cats; Miss B. She, like her siblings, was found abandoned by her mother in our yard after their original home next store was disturbed by construction.

Momma cat carefully carried each little kitten to our place, and tucked them safely behind our BBQ. We had seen her abandon litters before, with unfortunate results, and when she did the same with the latest batch, we figured they were our responsibility.

Raising street cats from kittens isnt' easy - they need help with everything a human baby needs help with, but are a lot more mobile, so smelly surprises tend to get distributed in the most hard to reach places. The benefits to our lives and general well being however, have been enormous.

If you're interested in adopting a cat or dog in Singapore, please contact some of the wonderful organizations below. Just remember that adoption is a life-long responsibility. Abandoned animals are a huge problem in Singapore, and the lives of feral or abandoned cats and dogs can be extremely harsh.
